Task 5: Illustrate a hoax with AI Joseph Stauss

For my hoax, I chose to use the same hoax that I had initially used in my Task 4 — the Morristown UFO hoax.

The Morristown UFO hoax was a myth which originated in 2009, when five red lights were seen floating in the night sky over Morristown, New Jersey. It came about after two hoaxers, Joe Rudy and Chris Russo, released helium balloons attached to flares to create the illusion of UFOs. The event gained significant media attention and sparked widespread speculation about extraterrestrial activity. However, it was soon debunked — revealed to be a planned hoax intended to expose how easily the public and media could be misled. Rudy and Russo later confessed, explaining that their intention was to critique the public’s willingness to believe in UFO sightings without critical examination.

My Non-AI Hoax Image

I made this image for Task 4 by superimposing two photographs with Adobe Express.

Using leonardo.ai i was able to create another photo of the Morristown UFO hoax.

the prompt was:make a photo of the Morristown ufo hoax making sure to have it look grainy with lots of noise barely being able to see the UFO like a old school camera also make sure that the UFO is not super in your face lastly have it be in a dessert in the sky at night with the lights on the ufo being the most visible part.
